The Challenge
Theme: Autonomy of Thought - Tacking Misinformation and Online Echo Chambers
- "Autonomy of Thought" refers to the ability to think independently without being subjected to manipulation due to modern news and media.
- Online echo chambers amplify and reinforce certain beliefs by repetitive communication in a closed system without contradiction, often due to algorithms employed by different media platform.
- Misinformation is false information spread not necessarily with dishonest intentions.

Location: Online via Zoom
- June 13, 2021: Online registration deadline
- Now-June18, 2021: All teams work on their projects offline
- June 18, 2021 5pm PDT: Deadline to submit topic and corresponding material link to Hack.a.Tech@GreenAppleUS.org

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to be a San Ramon resident to participant in?
No. The San Ramon Hackathon is open to all high school and middle school students regardless their geographical location or nationality.
Do I have to personally join the Zoom event to participant in?
No. If you are not located in Pacific Time zone, you can submitted a video to Hack.a.Tech@GreenAppleUS.org before deadline. We will play your video to judges and let you know the results.
Can I submit project not related to the Challenge Theme?
Yes. You are welcome to submit your project in any subject you have passion on. However, you can lose some points during competition.
How long should my video be?
No longer than 5 minutes.
